I received a brilliant package the other day all the way from New Zealand from all round good geezer Perry Cornish – founder of Opito Bay Salt Company. I met Perry, a native New Zealander but with a dad from Doncaster, when we worked together in London many years ago.We had a shared love of good food, fine wine, and Cornwall amongst other things. Ever the creative, years later I find he’s jacked in his corporate job, moved to the coast on Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand, and founded his own sea salt company – said Opito Bay Salt Company. They’ve now won shedloads of awards with their small batch artisan salts harvested from sea water using the sun for evaporation. When Perry found I sometimes use salt in my artwork, he sent me some! He also sent me some premium stuff for food. I can’t wait to try both. Thanks Perry. Good on you and best of luck for continued success with Opito 😊 #newzealand #seasalt #beachlife #art

Loved the Coromandel Peninsula when I was there in the late 90's! 💕

I had a heartfelt conversation with one of our clients today. He is a dedicated butcher from the rural Klein Karoo. He shared his concerns about competing with a similar butchery that was recently awarded “Best Butchery with 3 or More Till Points” in South Africa at the 19th Cleaver Awards, hosted by SAMIC. It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed when faced with such accolades, but it’s important to remember that success isn’t a zero-sum game.In the world of business, there’s ample space for everyone to prosper. Each business has its unique strengths and stories that resonate with different customers. Our client’s commitment to providing high-quality, farm-processed meat directly to his community is a testament to his dedication and passion. While competitors may shine brightly, it’s crucial to recognize that their journey isn’t without challenges. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side; it’s green where you water it. By focusing on what makes his butchery special and continuing to serve his customers with excellence, our client can carve out his own path to success.Let’s celebrate the diversity of businesses and the unique value each one brings to the table. There’s enough room for everyone to thrive, and with perseverance and passion, our client will continue to make a meaningful impact in his community.#BusinessGrowth #CommunitySupport #SmallBusiness #KleinKaroo #Butchery #SuccessStories

Is Craft Beer dying a very, very slow death? Simply, no, “We’re in a different era now, and the culture has changed.Everything that has happened before, will happen again — in beer.” — Evan RailFrom a column from a California expat, Good Beer Hunting International Editor based in Prague, Evan Rail. “We’re facing an inflection point in the world of beer, with almost as many brewpub closings (145) as openings (165) in the United States in 2023. I’ve lost track of the U.K. beer makers—both new-school and traditional—that have shuttered in just the last few years. Even what we now call “beer” can be very different from that term’s more limited definition of a generation or so ago. The entire culture that surrounds beer has changed and still is changing— the methods by which it is made, how it is served, where it is sold, and who makes and drinks it. That means, inevitably, that how we write about beer has to change as well.” — Evan RailIf you haven’t read this, you should. If you have, read it again. “Ob-la-di, ob-la-da Life goes on, bra La-la, how the life goes on …” — The Beatles Source: Sightlines • Good Beer Hunting #Beer #CraftBeer #NonAlcoholicBeer #Cider #Microbreweries #Taprooms #Brewpubs#ConsumerBehavior #BrandAwareness #EmergingTrends #BusinessIntelligence Slàinte☘️!✦✦✦Stephen Carter King Chief of Growth and Marketing and StrategyBeer Market Analyst + CEO of BeerconomyBeerconomist and Thought Leader Catalyst delivering market trends, insights, data and forecasts Publisher: The Beerconomist

The Craft of Brewing

Nearly 10 years ago we had an idea for a community-focused brewery that fostered home brewing. In 2015 we incorporated our business and proceeded with planning, site selection and permitting. In 2018 when we opened doors to customers, we were excited to be a part of Loudoun's growing craft brewing scene. 6+ years later, we regret to inform you that we've weathered too many storms - surviving what felt like the impossible with COVID only to attempt to stay afloat with annual double digit increases to cost of goods, labor and our lease which is now forecasted to more than double in the up coming months due to the high demand and short supply of zoned commercial restate (thanks to Data Centers need the same zoning requirements). We're proud of what we've accomplished but just can't make things work financially when looking at significant increases to our expenses going forward without a comparable increase in revenue. Time to cut our losses. If you have time, please enjoy these last few weeks with us. We currently anticipate June 8th as being our last day open, but things may change and we'll adjust accordingly. We appreciate everyone that came by over the years, we will miss our customers, our friends, and hope that we've left some of you with a new appreciation of beers you may not have otherwise tried or the affirmation that you too can brew a great beer. Cheers,Travis and Chitra S.#independentcraftbeer #smallbusiness #supportlocal
