🥇We are excited to announce the winner of the inaugural National Academy of Inventors OTT Innovator of the Year Award! Congratulations to Gi-Guang (Jason) Zhang at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory!⚡ This award recognizes Jason's patented technologies that address the instability of electrolytes against electrodes, especially Li metal anodes. He has proposed a new concept of localized high concentration electrolytes (LHCEs) for rechargeable batteries. He and his colleagues have used this concept in nine of his granted patents for different applications, including Li metal batteries, Li ion batteries, Li-S batteries, Li-air batteries, Na batteries, and potassium batteries etc. This concept has been widely adopted by many other groups for the development of novel electrolytes for rechargeable batteries. 🚀 The localized high concentration electrolytes and new approaches for Si preparation developed by Jason and his colleagues are expected to accelerate the market penetration of high energy density batteries, especially Li metal batteries and Si based Li ion batteries. Industry partners have embraced these innovations and have licensed the technologies for use in their battery production operations. Congratulations, Jason! 🏆#innovation #EVBattery #technology
